How do you feel when people in a restaurant give you slow service?
How do you feel when you found a hair in your soup?
Are you angry?
Are you disappointed?
Are you start to make a complain?
Are you start to scold people?
Are you start to make a demand as you are paying?
Today, I went for vegetarian lunch with my colleagues, the restaurant manager shared with us that they are facing shortage of manpower as 2 of their staffs on medical leave.
Immediately, I offer my help to arrange the plates, chopstick, spoon in our table, there was no thought in my mind that “We are the customer, we pay for the bill, we demand for great service.”
The important thing is to offer help to people who need it, irrelevant Who is paying…
The best time to contemplate “Why are we willing to be volunteer? Why are we willing to serve others?”
What is the difference offering help in the restaurant & Charity home?
What is the purpose for you to offer your service?
To help and to bring happiness to others.
Besides, we also discovered a hair in the soup, so we rejected with gentle and smile. Sometimes, this might also happen when we do our home cooking. There is not necessary to raise our voice. Its great to solve it in peace and harmony.
The restaurant manager apologize to us for the inconvenience caused.
During our chit-chat time, to my surprise that he presented a bouquet of flowers to show his appreciation to our kindness. It was a thoughtful gift and it bring happiness to others.

It’s a thoughtful gift, a great timing as I can do the flower offering to Buddha in-conjunction of Wesak day. A great reminder to share the kind virtues like the fragrance from flowers to our surrounding!
This incident makes me to contemplate that we must be always remain cool and calm no matter what type of challenges we are facing in life. Always remember to put our shoes in others. Always ready to stretch your helping hand irrelevant where you are…Always ready to cheer and bring happiness to others…
Don’t be stingy on your smile…
“Smiling is very important. If we are not able to smile, then the world will not have peace. It is not by going out for a demonstration against nuclear missiles that we can bring about peace. It is with our capacity of smiling, breathing, and being peace that we can make peace.”
